When Everyday Feels Like Groundhog Day

I come by my love of plants and gardening honestly.

My mom has the greenest thumb of anyone I know.

Her garden and landscaping at my childhood home are seriously jaw-dropping. It's magical to be there during the summer.

But I always used to tease her because she would take pictures each year of her yard.

And not like beautiful, artsy photographs that catch the light and the color just so that you can't help but reflect on the beauty of life.

No - we're talking plain landscape photos. One of each of her garden beds.

And then get this, she prints them. Like, an actual print of the photos and then she files it so she can look back and reference the changes.

Funny right?

That's what I thought too. Until google photos presented me with an "on this day" photo from 2 years ago and my mind exploded!

I saw a picture of my front garden bed and it was so bare I couldn't believe it!

This spring I have 3 hydrangea bushes and a tree already starting to bud. I can see hostas and other plants sprouting and they've spread! My daffodils and tulips are already blooming and I just know the entire thing is going to be beautiful in just a few more weeks.

I still remember buying those hydrangeas and watering them, terrified they wouldn't survive (they were $$!).

But we tended to that bed every day - watered it, weeded it, and trusted. And I can't believe how far it's come in just 2 years.

It's so easy to forget without that photo, that proof.

All of my clients, whether private or Beyond Balance, take a current inventory of their lives when we first start our work.

They take a snapshot and look at all of the "empty" areas of their lives and think about what they might want to grow there instead.

We assess career, family, relationships, health, finances, hobbies, rest, and anything else. And then we dream.

We set intentions and create a plan:

  • How will you "tend" to these areas of your life?

  • What are the lessons you need to learn?

  • What does success feel like?

Then we take the "after" shot. They compare their original assessment to how they feel today. We celebrate wins and progress - so much progress. And we dream some more.

Because often, the better it gets, the better it gets.

Are you taking "photos" of your life so that someday in the future you can celebrate how much has changed? How much you've changed and grown?

And are you taking the time to dream about what it is you want to "plant" in your life?

Take the photos. Set your intentions. Make progress. Celebrate.

Repeat.

My garden looks amazing because I had an amazing teacher (my mom).

I can teach you too. Your first step is to schedule a clarity call to create your unique plan with intention.
